Not by Design

Ever had one of those moments where you were so sure of something only to be so wrong? This morning, to the very deepest part of my soul, I felt that today was Saturday.

Surprise!

Happy Friday. I've never been so disappointed about a Friday in my life.

I've been thinking about what to chat about on the blog today, and I didn't have much come to mind. I mean no one commented about my Billionaire Orc idea from yesterday, so y'all left me with nothing.

All joking aside, it occurred to me while working on a cover revamp yesterday that I have several books with the word obsession being released or reintroduced this year. That wasn't by design, though I wish I'd thought that up at the beginning of the year.

Of course, you all know about Sweet Obsession, the book that hit the USA Today list.

As indicated by the title, it was on the sweeter side (though not in the clean, no sex category as sweet sometimes indicates).

My story in it was Loving Layla, which will be available on it's own in July. It's quite likely I'll have another Bolthouse Security book releasing pretty nearby to it. Spoiler Alert: The title will not include the word Obsession.

Then there's a much older book that just got a facelift. I love the new cover. It definitely conveys the feeling I looked for. Now, we dive right into a darker book. This one was originally called His Brother's Wife and I list it with my taboo stories. And indeed, Amazon did ban the original book. Right now it's on Kindle Unlimited AKA KU (as it has been) but it will leave Kindle Unlimited at the end of June.

Which leads me to the next book that will be release about the time that Forbidden Obsession comes out of KU. As I delve into some much darker or more...let's use the word unconventional...romance this summer and fall, it fits right in.

At long last, I will be releasing the next book. The follow-up to Forbidden Obsession. The first book can be read as a complete standalone. There's no real cliffhanger...though I left open one great big gigantic plot thread. It's time to revisit it and tie it up. Here's your first peek:

Forbidden Obsession is what I'd call...a taboo romance. Dangerous Obsession will definitely be a darker romance with some heavy Sleeping With the Enemy vibes.

Almost directly after this one, I'll have my story in the Dark Obsessions anthology. My story in the anthology will be Mine Every Night. This story has been tumbling around in my head for years. YEARS. To say I'm excited to get it down on to the page is an understatement.

Remember how I mentioned going in circles in my Circles blog? Or in yesterday's blog, how I mentioned the market changing and in conjunction, the tropes I write changing? Here's the big indicator for me:

I'm going back to writing some of my edgier stories and my reverse harem stories (not necessarily the same thing). That's where I started out as a writer and that's what I'm going to be writing more of now. I didn't always play it so safe.

Don't freak out. Not everything is going down that road, of course. Sweetville will remain as sweet, closed-door romances. My two Yours Everlasting Series books this year will be sweeter romances with no darker or edgier elements, too--not closed-door romances, by the way. They'll be very sexy. Promise.

Tip of the Day: Take breath. Be in the now, not the past and not the future. Now.

Quote of the Day: You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. (Jack London)

What I Learned Today (besides that it's Friday and not Saturday): According to one survey, 51% of respondents said they could go longer without sex than they could go without coffee.

Lots of Love,

~~ Brynn
