The Daily Joe, July 31

Oh my gosh! It's the last day of July. This month has flown by!! (as has this day, LOL)

I've been deep in the writing zone today, even though I haven't written a ton of words. I had some major breakthrough on a story that's been giving me fits for a long time. I have commitments on it, so I couldn't just give up and move on. Though it was tempting. Having breakthroughs after a struggle are always the best and quite the confidence builder. It reaffirms that yes, you can write this book or complete this project. You do know what you're doing. You can succeed!

Positive self-talk and all that.

How do you talk to yourself? Do you tell yourself you're disorganized? That you don't know what you're doing? That you don't deserve success? That you're dumb? Etc, etc along that line...

Stop it! Stop it right now.

You are none of those things! This is what you need to do:

  • Tell yourself you're working on being organized, research it, learn how.

  • You think you don't know something? Learn it. I can guarantee you can get answers for free on the internet or at the library. I am in a constant state of research mode and those are the tools I use.

  • Remember, you have every right to be successful because you're working hard on it.

  • And you may have done things that weren't brilliant in the past, but YOU ARE SMART. You have talent. If you don't know what it is, start searching for it then grow it. Everyone has some sort of gift they've been given. It might be in the arts, like writing or painting. It might be languages, or hospitality and kindness, or making people feel comfortable. It might be organizing. You might be the best cleaner who ever lived on the planet. Maybe you're another dog whisperer...or horses...or cats--and if it's cats, I bow down to you.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist with a genius IQ to be successful or to do great things. You have to believe in yourself and work hard. If you don't get there today, if you don't get there tomorrow or next week, just believe that you will get there because you won't give up. No one who surrenders will reach their goals. No one who surrenders will win their dream.

Today, July 31, 2019

My agenda today is writing. I know that shocks you.

I already finished my chapter of The Billionaire's Beautiful Runaway. I'm continuing on my final draft work for The Problem With Billionaires. If you missed it somehow, here's a reminder that it's available for pre-order.

I'm also working on the deep plotting of In My Chains for October. I should have the final draft of that finished around mid-September. It's a long book, so there's quite a bit of work there.

Earlier today, I made some changes to Light My Fire to incorporate into the Beach Please/Cherish Cove series. Those characters will appear throughout all the books taking place in Cherish Cove. If you're one of the twelve people who've read Light My Fire--I'm joking. I'm sure there were more than that--I moved the town to Cherish Cove from Collingsworth or Collingsdale or whatever it was. I realized as I was writing Reclaiming Love that I'd actually written the same small town that I'd already been developing. So I made changes today and reuploaded it. At this point, the series now has two prequels or accompanying books. Obviously, everything is standalone.

So it's been a busy day. I still have a bit to do on The Problem With Billionaires before I call it a day. But I'll get it done.

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

~~Brynn
